Horne Reunion
April 27th (travel day) 28th, 29th, & 30th , 2016 he Horne Reunion will be held in San Antonio, Tx at the: Drury Inn and Suites Riverwalk 201 N. St Mary’s St - San Antonio, Tx 78205 - 210-212-5200 (local) The room rate for the reunion is $159 per night + taxes. You may have up to 4 people in the room. Price includes Hot Breakfast Buffet plus a 5:30 PM “Kickback” which includes a rotating menu of hot food and beverages with call drinks at the bar. (3 drinks per person each day) The Breakfast and Kickback is for hotel guests only. Reservations can be made online at: www.druryhotels.com then enter group number 2247097 You may also call 1-800-325-0720 and refer to Group Number 2247097 to obtain reunion rate. The hotel has 150 rooms and is a very popular location. I highly recommend that you make your reservations now to ensure availability. We have 40 rooms blocked for the reunion and the reunion rate is good as long as there is room availability. You may cancel your reservations at no cost up to a week before the reunion. Please let me know when you make reservations so I can keep track of the number of blocked rooms available. lgool8731@yahoo.com For those driving in, there is a hotel parking garage attached to the hotel that is around $ 15 per day. For those who fly in, do not rent a car, just take a taxi to the hotel as there is abundant bus, and trolley service at a very reasonable cost. Linda and I have had two previous reunions at this location and the San Antonio Riverwalk is such a unique place with a lot to see and do. We have planned quite a bit of free time so you may enjoy the amenities of the Riverwalk. We also have a Bus trip planned to go to Fredericksburg, Tx ,which is located about an hour north of San Antonio. Fredericksburg is the Home town of Admiral Chester Nimitz and the Pacific War Museum is located there. It is a quaint German town that has numerous locally owned restaurants specializing in German cuisine. There a lot of locally owned shops to visit also along with the Museum. The bus will drop us at the museum. The day will be free time so you may visit museum, eat lunch and shop. The bus will pick us up at the museum around 4:00 and return to the Hotel around 5:30. Please note, the bus trip is optional as indicated in the Attendance Fee Form. At the Saturday catered evening meal in the hospitality room, we are honored to have the Horne “Skipper” 89-91, Thomas Barnett as the keynote speaker. The reunion plans are now together, along with the itinerary. The hospitality room will be open daily for guests to enjoy beverages, snacks, and just visiting. We hope this will be the best Horne Reunion ever and we are looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. Welcome Aboard. Thursday April 28th Bus Trip to Fredericksburg with Freetime to visit Pacific War Museum, (optional) Visit local shops and have lunch. Bus will leave hotel around 9:30 and Arrive back to hotel around 5:30. Kickback in Hotel Lobby for guests. Hospitality Room open. Friday April 29th Free time in the morning. Catered lunch in hospitality room to include Chicken and Beef Fajitas, beans, rice with all the trimmings with margarita cheese cake for desert. Free time afternoon and evening. Kickback in hotel lobby for guests. Hospitality room open all day. Saturday April 30th Free time till evening meal. Hospitality room open all day. Evening Meal will be around 6.00pm. Texas BBQ Brisket and Chicken, potato Salad, beans, cole slaw, all the trimmings & dessert in the hospitality Room. Our guest speaker, Thomas Barnett (Horne skipper 89-91) will Speak and have audio visual presentation. For all attendees, the entire reunion attire is strictly casual.
